  1. Bantus tribesmen came in the 16th Century and Arabs 
  2. in the 19th Century.  In 1891 it became a British protectorate of
  3. Nyasaland and became independent on July 6, 1964 and a republic
  4. in 1966.  Its foreign policy is pro-West and cooperates
  5. economically with South Africa.                    @
